Hands of Hope-Philadelphia 2
Philadelphia 2 is the orphanage that my home church-Solid Rock- has recently taken on as a project. I had the privilege of visiting and spending some time with the kids. They were BEAUTIFUL!! There are now 13 wonderful children living in this home with a couple "mamas" taking care of them. We did some art projects and played some games. A man visiting from Glen's home church in the States gave a music lesson with recorders to the older kids. We took photos and toured the property. The home shares 10 acres of land with another home called Life of Liberty which is a girl's home. There are 12 girls ranging in age up to about 17 years-old. We also did a music lesson and took photos of the girls. We were able to bless the homes with food and medical supplies that are much needed.
Pastor Mutatu and his family have these homes as well as one other orphanage (Philadelphia 1) under his church's leadership. They are responsible for these children and a feeding program for their community. They feed about 300 orphans a day. Pastor Mutatu is an amazing man of God with tremendous vision. He has dreams of expanding on the land, building a school and having a completely self-sustaining "Philadelphia Village." The name Philadelphia comes from the church in Revelation chapter 3. This land was given to the church and doors just kept opening for them to build and take care of orphans. "What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open." They see it as an "oasis of life" a door that God has opened for them that no one can shut.
How can you pray for Philadelphia 2?? They are currently working on digging a couple bore-holes. They went without running water for 3 months!!! It is very important that they can find sustainable ways of getting water and food for the kids. They can't get pumps to finish out the holes, and since electricity isn't always on, having an electric pump may not work. Of course they need money for the projects too (probably around $2000 per hole). They also need a large, working vehicle to transport the kids to and from the church they attend. Fuel is very difficult to purchase and foreign currency is needed to obtain it. Pray for Irene Mutatu who tirelessly serves these homes and children. Also pray for direction, wisdom and resources for Pastor Mutatu's vision.
